ROCKS DEFEAT MILLERS IN PITCHER'S DUEL

The Rocks avenged their loss to Noblesville Monday night with a hard fought 2-0 victory Tuesday night.  It was a pitcher’s duel as the score was knotted up at zero until the bottom of the 6th when the Rocks scored two runs on a critical Miller error.  Wade Burtron started on the mound and went the distance, pitching a complete game shutout while striking out nine to earn his fifth win on the season.  Offensively, Brandon Gray, Wade Burtron, Alec Nelson and Bailey Partlow each collected a hit.  Westfield now has an off day before opening the final home game and HCC series at Shamrock Field on Thursday against Lafayette Jeff at 6pm.

Nick Saldutti continued to swing a hot bat against the Millers last night, hitting two doubles

MILLERS DROP ROCKS IN HCC BATTLE

The Rocks traveled to Don Dunker Field last night for a game with the Millers.  Westfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning only to have the Millers answer with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning.  The Millers never looked back as they went on to win 7-4.  Mike McBride started on the mound for the Rocks, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing six runs while striking out two.  Nick Reifel and Jake Celleghin relieved McBride and allowed a run in two innings of relief.  Offensively, the Rocks were led by the hot bat of Nick Saldutti who was 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Wade Burtron was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI as well.  Bailey Partlow added the only other RBI on the night.  The Millers will visit Shamrock Field tonight for a 5:30 pm wrap up of the HCC series.
